I was just re-reading I and Thou, and could see parallels between Buber's pivotal work and John Edwards...particularly because of the glaring contrast with Bush.
I like Obama and Hillary too, and I think of them as spiritually advanced beings, just like John. But when you turn your gift into a commodity by selling out to megaboluses of money, destined to tax one's precious impartiality, you risk losing the gift. John, by making his stance, hath yawped the eternal yes of impartiality, and he is, therefore, truly, the people's president.
Barack has a great future ahead...as the President of the United States. But not this time. Next time. In the college of presidential thought, Obama is a freshman, and John is in the Society of Fellows. And yet he is still a paragon of clean living and youthfulness -- AND the most presidential of lot.
Bring on the future!
