Dems would win a battle of visions

A BATTLE OF VISIONS
If the 2008 Election is a Battle of Visions, the Democrats will win....because many important Republicans are economically tied to things staying the same, or getting worse. McCain cannot attack the polluters, Big Oil, and other natural supporters the way a Democrat can. A Democrat can appeal to universal and common interests such as clean air, water and land, peace, interdependence, and so on.
As Jim Hunt, North Carolina's visionary ex-governor said: "A campaign should be about where we want to go, what we want to do, who we want to be." In other words, it should be visionary, and progressive. Not merely maintaining the status quo...which by now is about as rotten as it can get.
The question should be:
Who is the better visionary? Now that John Edwards has left the race, I don't see a clear standard bearer of useful visions. Much of Obama and Hillary's vision was once John Edwards' vision. Where are their visions now?
In Praise of Bill Belichick the Progressive

I wrote a diary on Mr. Belichick after the Patriots' last Super Bowl win. It was received with resounding applause. To my sad dismay, Belichick was yesterday found guilty of an act akin to the infamous attempt to smear a sitting Virginia Senator last year. Our own Democratic tracker cheated when he went after George Allen with a video camera, got audible evidence of Allen's macaca comment, effectively stealing Allen's coded signals to his wink, wink white audience.
Be that as it may, I'll forgive Belichick for behaving as Allen's tracker did. And I'll sing his praises instead with the ole diary.
"Man of the Year"

Last night, I have the overwhelming pleasure to see this gem of a movie, "Man of the Year." Right now, I will tell you it is a pleasure to see. I will not ruin the movie for you, but I will give you how this movie fits todays political climate...
A vision to consider -- on education and more

Yesterday was an in-service day for our department. One day a year we leave school and go do something together to broaden our knowledge, and to take some time to be together. Our visit yesterday was to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, which I assure you is worth visiting if you are in Baltimore. It is quite close to the Inner Harbor, and fascinating in itself. Their educational goals will be the structure of the vision to consider.
One of the primary benefactors of the museum was the late James Rouse, who among his many achievements developed the Inner Harbor, and Fanueil Hall, and Columbia Maryland. He will also be a part of this diary on a vision to consider.
I urge you to take the time to continue reading what I have to offer today.
