Do You Even Know What The Republican Are Up To Now?

Sat Jun 21, 2008 at 04:46:14 PM PDT

This is an editorial piece that was printed in our local Independent News on Thursday of this week.  It was written by my very own Republican congressman, Jeff Miller (R-FL)(shithead).  I have not one iota of respect for this man, he is most definitely a Bush supporter, and one with no conscience.

He has consistently voted against the least amongst us, claiming the boot strap theory is what should prevail, as well as personal responsibility, as the answer to what those who are without should rely upon, or should aspire to.

I have had many emails from him, in response to mine, and they all say the same thing.  Bootstraps/personal responsibility.

It started with the disastrous bankruptcy vote, and has gone on from there.  But nothing has changed, not his position, and certainly not mine.

This is a gem, though, you'll appreciate it.  Because it is the Democrats fault that gas prices have escalated, it is the Democrats fault that no new energy bill has been passed, and now the Republicans are going to change that.

Your Job History For Sale

Thu May 01, 2008 at 06:36:59 PM PDT

This is beyond belief for myself and my husband.  If you knew this, then fine, but we did not.  And yes, his company does participate in Talx, and yes, he does feel like he has been lied to, and cheated of his anonymity, as much as one can be, within a large government contracting firm.

The next time you apply for a loan or a new job, a lender or prospective employer might go online to access a database instead of calling your human resources department to verify your employment and income.

You can read more after you engage your outrage at what corporate America is doing, for themselves, but not for you.

Helen Thomas, American Hero

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 09:25:51 PM PDT

Helen Thomas spoke out against torture, and the silence of the media regarding torture, in a press conference with Dana Perino, and apparently, no one noticed.

We only care about elections.  We only care who said what, and when, and how it will affect the ratings for our massive industry.  No.  CNN, MSNBC, and FOX haven't stated that, as such, but isn't it the truth?  For them?

For us the the truth is another thing.  A real thing.  And thankfully, we have Helen Thomas, and truth is ours.

The Honeymoon Cruise Has Sailed Without the Groom.

Mon Jul 02, 2007 at 11:56:13 AM PDT

Yup.  You read that one right, folks.  She did indeed call the wedding off.  A grand total of 4 days before the wedding, she called the whole thing to a majestic halt.

I just recieved the call from my daughter that they have boarded the ship, and they are in line for food, as they boarded early and cannot get into their room yet.

Their room is oceanview and was booked by us as her honeymoom cruise and a wedding present to her and her groom by us.  Now she is aboard that ship with her best friend of 16 years, who was also to be the maid of honor, and the groom is somewhere in pain, and hurting I am sure.

Details of how to cancel a wedding at the last minute follow:

Our Beloved Pootie Is Gone, Where Is He?

Thu May 17, 2007 at 09:36:32 PM PDT

We have a cat, named Scooter, that we rescued when we lived in North Carolina. We brought him with us when we moved to Florida, he evacuated during the hurricanes with us and he did just fine.  We had him for five and half wonderful years, and now he is gone.  Just poof! disappeared, gone, we have not seen him since Saturday, the 5th of May. We want him back, the sooner the better, and we are willing to pay a reward.

We live in The Oaks, a small subdivison off of HWY 98 in Gulf Breeze, Fl.  We are open to any and all suggestions as to how to find our missing family, Scooter, and please, feel free to offer any suggestion, because we are truly desparate.  Thanks!

Thanking Everyday Heroes, Our Personal Story

Thu Aug 31, 2006 at 08:26:19 PM PDT

I write this diary as a very thankful Mom.  A Mom is a person who gives birth to a small human being and nurtures that being, every day, every minute of that little beings life.  There is never one moment that I have not been a Mom, not since the moment that I gave birth.  I once believed that SIDS was the scariest thing I had to fear.  Then I started fearing the chicken pox, and measles, and even the crossing guards in grade school (some of them were very strange in Orlando, FL), and lice, oh let's not forget lice.  Lice invade every aspect of your life, I don't know, we never had that problem, but always heard that it was a horrible experience, so be afraid, very afraid.

Well, guess what?  You never stop worrying about your child if you are a Mom, you just learn to cope.  You get the chills every single time the phone rings and they are out for the evening, you worry if they are not eating the way you think they should, or sleeping as much you think they should.  For crying out loud, when can I, Mom, stop worrying?  The answer is never, Mom, not ever.

Blog, Blog, Blog, Who Are You Reading?

Sat Jul 22, 2006 at 08:41:10 PM PDT

I have been reading the blogs for a little more than two years now and have an ever expanding reading list.  This has made me wonder which blogs my DailyKos brothers and sisters are reading and why, how often, how they found them, etc.

I found Kos by watching CNN believe it or not.  Wolf Blitzer in the afternoon, sitting there having a late lunch and all of a sudden there is the Kos screen and they are talking about the effects of the Kerry vs. Bush election in/on the blogosphere and it was a total zen moment for me.

I rushed to my computer and typed in DailyKos on the google  bar and was reborn.  I live in a totally red state (Florida) in the worst of this red state, the panhandle.  We have people standing outside of our local nightspot, we really only have the one, with bibles in their hands yelling and pointing out all of the failings of mankind and what will happen to you should you actually cross that stoop and pay for a cocktail.

She Is Getting Married , He Doesn't Vote!

Tue Jul 11, 2006 at 07:41:33 PM PDT

My daughter is getting married!  Yeah!  She has finally announced the wedding date, and we are relieved.  Yes, relieved.  She has been wanting this for a very long time, but we have asked her to put if off.  She was too young, she hasn't finished her degree, she has no real knowledge of the real world, ie; fincances, banking, mortgages, 401K, etc.

But the truth is we are strong believers in voting, in being civic activists, and in knowing your government.

My problem on the flip:

Oh, How Could We? Our Local Marines Talk To Us. You Listen

Sun Jul 02, 2006 at 11:46:45 PM PDT

We went to dinner on Friday evening thinking it would be a quiet evening, we would return home, and just like any other uneventful eveing, go to sleep.  Guess what?   It was the most eventful evening of the year to/and for us.

We had the opportunity to meet a whole platoon of young marines, and they were very young.  These kids had only been enlisted fo 6 to 9 months. (I have to smile as I type that because they were so very funny when they told us how long they had been enlisted, they actually wanted to impress us with their length of service!)  Such babes! Truly, ladies and gents, these guys were babes, but only of the type that I wanted to cradle in my arms and rock, they were so young! and because what each and every one of them said was so true, and so sad, and so indicative of what is happening in Iraq today and everyday.

An Ode to MSOC.The Lady

Sat Apr 15, 2006 at 07:17:19 PM PDT

This poem is dedicated to you, for all that you are, for all that you will be.  There is a time when a woman just has to yell it out, scream it out, and you are our time.  The hell with what society thinks, or the hell with what our parents may think.  Just be you, and we will follow, MSOC, you are the voice of so many who just do not have the nerve to speak up, or to scream up, and we love you for being that voice.

Open Thread

Fri Apr 07, 2006 at 06:40:45 PM PDT

Dammit.  I want more openthreads.  What happened to plain ole openthreads?  The front pagers are doing such a wonderful job! Kudos and love to them all, but openthreads are great, too.

Friday nights are full of people who have worked all week long, been away from the blogs, and the up-to-the minute news and they want to share their OPINIONS.  More open threads are needed, especially on the week-end, when some of us are available, but only for a few hours, minutes, or seconds, as the case may be.

Quitting Smoking and After Effects

Thu Dec 29, 2005 at 09:54:55 PM PDT

Well, I did not mean to but I hijacked an open thread with my announcment that I was quitting smoking on Janurary 1, 2006.  I am quitting because I promised my 17 year old son I would.  Why would I break that promise?  I honestly cannnot think of a good reason to do so.  He has not been the most well behaved son, but he has not given us any serious reason to disengage ourselves from him, either.

The gift of a child is immeasurable. A child is the true gift that keeps on giving.  When you see Kos with his 2 year old son, you do not think of the future, but it is there in the eyes that laugh and in the giggle that never ends.  So it is, or was, with my son, the giggle and the smile, the love and the hugs.  The wonder and joy.  All wrapped up in warmth, hugs, and "unconditional love"

The Life I Could Not Save

Thu Sep 22, 2005 at 06:39:55 PM PDT

Is this the true indicator of our society?  You tell me. The diary is based on an indident that happened at my office today and based on the comment one patient made as she left the office.

I was made aware of the fact that a small kitten had been hit outside of our office today and no one was there to report or help the wounded animal.  Within minutes I made the proper calls for help and then went outside to see if I could rescue this helpless victim.  It is too sad to retell the details as they replay in my mind but the poor thing was beyond help.

Someone had hit this poor small kitty with their car and not stopped to help.  It is criminal and I don't know how anyone could do this and live with themselves.
