Obama's Masculinity Problem
Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 03:01:03 AM PDT
I really don't care what anyone else has to say. After the merciless beatings that Hillary Clinton has taken night after night from Keith Olbermann, for her to have gone on his show Monday night was nothing less than courageous. And as for Barack, it's not a question of whether he's Black enough or White enough, whether he's too liberal or too centrist. The question is whether Barack Obama is man enough to be president of the United States.
The Fresno Bee Endorses John Edwards
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 10:03:43 AM PDT
Sheesh! Guess no one passed the word to them that the mainstream media is supposed to be ignoring John Edwards, because The Fresno Bee just urged Democrats and independents to vote for him in California's February 5 Democratic primary. More below the fold.
The AP Calls John Edwards A Liar
Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 06:08:27 PM PDT
John Edwards was on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday morning. Acknowledging John McCain's victory in the GOP's South Carolina primary, Edwards posed this challenge to the Democratic Party:
And what we need to think about is--as a party--is who are we going to put up against who now looks like it may be John McCain on the other side. I mean, this is a guy who's a great advocate for campaign finance reform. So are we going to put a candidate against him who've taken in lots of money from lobbyists and PACs? And he's also a very strong candidate, with a long, long record, including an extraordinary record of military service. So he will be strong. And we have to put up somebody who's strong against him and somebody who represents change in a meaningful way.
CBS News FACE THE NATION, Sunday, January 20, 2008
Using an alternate quote from a Q&A session Edwards had this morning with reporters, Associated Press writer Jim Davenport tried to brand Edwards as falsely claiming that he is the best Democratic candidate to beat McCain. Did he succeed? You decide on the flip.
Why They Fear John Edwards
Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 12:26:09 PM PDT
To witness the American mainstream media's coverage of Campaign '08, an overseas visitor to these shores might hastily surmise that only two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination were worthy of note, not a third whose presence in the race has lifted the hopes of the poor and middle class, and struck fear deep into the heart of corporate America.
But then, upon returning home, our visitor would find in the publications of his native land surprising clues to a disturbance rising in America, such as a dispatch this morning from Reuters.
Why Lieberman Will Drop Out
Fri Aug 11, 2006 at 08:45:37 AM PDT
Lieberman is in such a state of shock right now that he's running on adrenalin and chutzpah. Give him a few weeks for it to sink in that he died Tuesday night, that he's no longer breathing, that the organs are shutting down, that there's no going back, that the funeral service is over and the casket is closing, that he's being lowered into his grave and the mourners are beginning to disperse. All that remains is for Gore and Dean come into Connecticut and throw dirt on the grave by campaigning for Lamont.
Joe Lieberman's Judas Kiss

A reminder to Connecticut Democrats as they prepare to go to the polls on Tuesday to elect their candidate for Senator.
Douglas Edwards & Dan Rather
Tue Jun 20, 2006 at 04:00:43 PM PDT
The decorous way that CBS treated the late Douglas Edwards, and the unceremonious way it ushered Dan Rather out the door, make for a fascinating comparison, especially in view of their similar tenures (Edwards: 45 years; Rather: 44).

Cheney & The Gauze Curtain
Mon Feb 13, 2006 at 09:54:49 PM PDT
Here's an interesting question I haven't seen addressed yet in the coverage of this hunting fiasco:
In Texas, when someone is admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds, is there any law that requires the hospital to notify the local sheriff's office?
For the answer, look below the fold.
NBC Anchors Play Santa's Helpers As They Cover For Reality
Fri Nov 25, 2005 at 08:18:18 AM PDT
One family's outing to watch the Macy's annual Thanksgiving Day parade was ruined yesterday when the
M&M balloon bumped into a lamppost and two sisters, one confined to a wheelchair by cerebral palsy, were injured by pieces of the falling streetlight. One of the girls required nine stiches for a cut on her head, the other was grazed on her forehead and had a chipped tooth.
The accident recalled another incident eight years ago, when the Cat in the Hat balloon also struck a lamppost and injured four people, one of whom spent several weeks in a coma.
CNN flashed the news eleven minutes after the accident. MSNBC followed minutes later. WNBC-TV carried the news a half hour after the parade ended. But if you had been watching the parade on the NBC television network, you wouldn't have known that anything had gone wrong. Read on.
The Shoveler Takes On The Thinker (Pausing Patrick Fitzgerald)
Sun Oct 30, 2005 at 08:42:23 PM PDT
So, here's
Isikoff's explanation of why, after visiting with Rove's attorney, Luskin, Fitzgerald decided not to indict Rove:
Two sources close to Rove who asked not to be identified because the probe is ongoing said Luskin presented evidence that gave the prosecutor "pause." One small item was a July 11, 2003, e-mail Rove sent to former press aide Adam Levine saying Levine could come up to his office to discuss a personnel issue. The e-mail was at 11:17 a.m., minutes after Rove had gotten off the phone with Matt Cooperthe same conversation (in which White House critic Joe Wilson's wife's work for the CIA was discussed) that Rove originally failed to disclose to the grand jury. Levine, with whom Rove often discussed his talks with reporters, did immediately go up to see Rove. But as Levine told the FBI last week, Rove never said anything about Cooper.
Does this sound like any kind of an explanation? More below the fold.
