Bush nominates James Holsinger, anti-gay theologian, for Surgeon General
Fri May 25, 2007 at 09:42:50 PM PDT
President Bush has nominated Dr. James Holsinger for Surgeon General. Dr Holsinger has impressive medical credentials but is also is a theologian and president of the United Methodist Church Judicial Council which has been responsible for anti-gay rulings that have been contested by that Church's Council of Bishops. Is Bush Drunk or Senile walking down stairs?
Thu Aug 17, 2006 at 11:20:33 PM PDT
A week or so ago there were National news press photos of GWB tripping while going down on the stairs of Air Force One. [I can't find the link to the photoset that I thought I saved.]
Below is an animated gif of Bush going down the AF1 stairs. I've exited from planes with stairs and I normally don't clutch the handrails because I can walk without assistance (plus I'm carrying stuff). Below we see Bush clutching at both hand rails (first frame) and then he holds on to one for dear life until he regains his balance.
My guess is that he is drunk or missing some mental capacity that would let him walk down stairs without needing handrails.

Rumsfeld: We're not going to win against the insurgency
Sun Jun 26, 2005 at 12:46:45 PM PDT
A blurb from the arch-conservative
Sher Zieve:
In an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld said: "We're not going to win against the insurgency. The Iraqi people are going to win against the insurgency. That insurgency could go on for any number of years. Insurgencies tend to go on five, six, eight, 10, 12 years. Coalition forces, foreign forces are not going to repress that insurgency." Rumsfeld also went on to say that it is the intent and the job of coalition forces to "create an environment" in which the Iraqis can defeat the terrorists who continue to threaten its burgeoning democracy.
Rumsfeld also said that it could take up to 12 years to complete the suppression and defeat of the terrorists. But, he added that it would be the ultimate task of the Iraqis, and not the US or alliance forces, to complete the job.
The Morality of Plagiarism - what ever it takes is RIGHT

The latest plagiarism story involves Laura K Pahl of
Lewis University (A Catholic and Lasallian University). Supposedly, she had a paper due the next day involving "Hindu", got on AOL, searched user profiles, and found
Nate Kushner's profile where he said he liked "Eating Hindu Sculpture." So she IMed him and eventually contracted him to ghost-write a 5 page college paper for her for $75.
Grasping at Dead Voter straws
Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 08:03:03 AM PDT
The latest thing for Republicans to get outraged at is
people who vote early then die before election day.
How many of those voters won't be alive on Election Day? Considering that an average of 455 voting-age people die in Florida every day, and that the 2000 presidential election was decided by a mere 537 votes, votes from the dead could become a meaningful bloc.
patriotic Fallujah airstrikes & prep for major operation
Sat Oct 30, 2004 at 10:05:45 AM PDT
Well, it is time to have a patriotic display of American might just before the US elections. And it seems to be timed so that if it goes south, that will happen after the election.
From
Fox news
U.S. forces launched airstrikes against suspected militant bases in Fallujah and carried out probing attacks on the city's outskirts, as they prepared for a major operation in the insurgent bastion that has become the symbol of Iraqi resistance.
Prediction: A Happy Landslide
Wed Oct 27, 2004 at 08:17:43 PM PDT
I feel the Kerry victory will be much larger than predictable by current polls, and the biggest deciding factor will not be particular issues but instead how happy people feel about voting. The thesis is that the happier that people feel about voting the more likely they are to vote.
Dec. Surprise: Kerry = POTUS #45
Thu Oct 14, 2004 at 03:58:36 AM PDT
When Kerry wins we will get "petulant George" who resigns (after about 1 month of claiming the Dems cheated) thereby making Cheney the 44th President of the United States.
This tantrum is necessary to get in all the pardons. Before GWB resigns he pardons Cheney and maybe a whole bunch others. Then Cheney can pardon Bush and others.
In order to keep suspicion away from particular people, blanket pardons will be issued. E.g. If all of Cheney's staff is pardoned then nobody is singled out.
Will they pardon
everybody at Enron? in the US Military?
There is a precident for such mass pardons.
Carter pardoned all draft evaders, and if mass pardons are good enough for war protestors then they should be good enough for war advocates.

Revenge vs. Strategy = terrorists for Kerry
Mon Sep 20, 2004 at 01:31:21 PM PDT
I think I can understand how the Republican point that "the terrorists want Bush to loose" works. It is tit-for-tat thinking: The US as lead by Bush has captured a number of terrorists and has thus hurt them. Since Bush hurt the terrorists the terrorists will want to hurt Bush, so they favor hurting his feelings in an electoral defeat.
Terrorists may want to assassinate Bush but I doubt they would be so petty to take glee at hurting his feelings.
Polarizing the difference between Muslims and the West is a more effective strategy for terrorists and the Bush administration gets sucked in by concentrating on petty notions like revenge than overall strategy.
